Murano Hand Blown Sommerso 12 Ruby Vase Gold Aventurine Ground Pontil 10-lbs

Today we're offering a spectacular vintage, ruby red, Murano Italian art glass vase, circa mid-century. This vase is quite large, standing 12 high.

The neck is flared and ruffled. The style is very loose and abstract.

The glass contains many (uncontrolled) bubbles. It's done in a technique known as "Sommerso" consisting of two or more colors. In this case, they have used ruby and clear, then accented it with ribbons of gold aventurine. The glass is about 1/4 thick.

The vase weighs 10 lbs. We recommend that you display it on a very sturdy surface!

There are no chips or cracks we can find. There are several rough spots on the bottom of the vase that are like skid marks in the glass - please see pics. We don't know the appropriate name for these. There are several areas inside of the vase that have a matte finish rather than shiny though this appears to be in the glass making process and not actual damage.
