This example used glass rods that were smoked and fused together to create a linear effect before being shaped into the neck of the horse. The entire surface was later coated again with another layer of clear molten glass and then shaped into the head, mouth and flowing mane.
The piece is not signed nor has the original vinyl label for V. Nason & Co, Murano Italy. Previous owner must have removed it.The sculpture measures approximately 9-1/2 inches tall. The pontil mark on the base where the base glass was attached to the blowing apparatus has been polished smooth indicating superior workmanship. The sculpture is in excellent used vintage condition except for very small area at the mane, on the bottom. It was very hard to photograph and in my opinion does not detract.
