This special piece has been in my family for a little over half a century. My Great Grandmother bought this piece on a trip to Venezuela in the late 1960s-1970s. Kept safe in her curio cabinet with no damage to the glass, it has been passed down to my Grandmother and now Father. This is a vintage one of a kind original hand-blown glass fish sculpture/figurine made by Arte Murano ICET, the famous Venezuelan glassblowing workshop founded by Italian Bruno Ava in 1957 in Potrerito, San Antonio de los Altos (near Caracas). It is a stylized fish with a curved "S" or arched body, raised tail fin, detailed eyes (with inclusions or millefiori for the eye), and a heart-shaped handle that doubles as the upper tail/vase opening.
The design combines decorative beauty with a small functional element: the wide, flared top works as a tiny vase or flower holder, perfect for a single flower or as a standalone ornament. Cobalt blue/transparent gradient with gold detailing. Classic ribbed and wavy relief details typical of hand-blown craftsmanship.
A wide, stable circular base, complete with the original label still attached: "ARTE MURANO ICET HECHO EN VENEZUELA" (or slight variations like "HECHO EN VENEZUELA"), which confirms its authenticity and Venezuelan origin (not Italian, though the style is pure Murano).
