Vintage hand-blown art glass vase of exceptional quality, with a heavy clear glass body incorporating opaque white spiral filigrana-style decoration. The vase has a beautifully balanced globular form with a narrow waist and dramatically flared trumpet mouth. Numerous white glass lines sweep upward in spiraling groups from the rounded base, narrowing and expanding as the vessel changes shape. Viewed from above, the pattern creates an especially striking radiating spiral through the interior and broad flared rim.
The construction displays a number of characteristics associated with traditional Venetian and Murano art glass, including hand-blown construction, integral white cane or filigrana-style decoration, a fire-finished flared rim, small bubbles consistent with handmade glass, and a large worked pontil area on the underside. The vase is unmarked and has no surviving label, so no specific Murano factory or maker is being attributed.
